TOPIC: Passing of John Webster

1. Purpose

It is with much sadness we share with you that John Webster from Quirindi, passed away at the weekend.

2. Background

John spent his early working life share-farming in the Quirindi district and later managing properties for BM Kenny at Caroona, Willow Tree and Wallabadah.

During this time, he managed the Barley Marketing Board silos at Waverley, Caroona and later he and wife Denise started Waverley Grain and Seed. This business later evolved into Quirindi Grain and Produce and Webster’s Stockfeeds with brother Rob and his wife Lyn; a business that recently celebrated 44 years of operation across the Liverpool Plains and beyond.

John was passionate about farming and grain trading, establishing wide-ranging connections and lifelong friendships over the years. He was a kind and gentle man, who enjoyed a story and a laugh.

While planning his retirement, which did include grain trading from home, John became unwell, and after a short illness died on 29 September at John Hunter Hospital with family by his side.

John’s funeral will be held at St Brigid’s Catholic Church, Thomas Street Quirindi on Tuesday, 8 October at 2.30pm.
