DISTRIBUTION: GTA Members – primary contact list. Please circulate to all appropriate internal parties
1. Purpose
To advise members the GTA Board has approved for release the 2025/26 GTA Location Differential (LDs) for Western Australia (WA) as recommended by the GTA Commerce Committee. These are now available on the GTA website and will take effect from 1 October 2025.
2. Background to WA LDs
GTA publishes the LDs for the storage locations of our members in QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and WA annually to enable participants using the GTA Contract No. 2 Grain and Oilseeds in Bulk – Basis Track to price grain at up-country sites. Each year, GTA consults with members and the wider grain industry to address potential changes.
With endorsement from the Commerce Committee, the GTA Board approved WA LDs on 28 October 2025.
GTA LDs for QLD, NSW and VIC have been published for the 2025/26 season via GTA Member Update 15 of 2025 on 29 August 2025. GTA LDs for SA have been published for the 2025/26 season via GTA Member Update 20 of 2025 on 1 October 2025.
The delay in the release of the WA (and the SA LDs) is a result of industry agreeing to use Bunge and CBH Group published freight rates for South Australia (SA) and Western Australia (WA) each year, subject to approval by the GTA Commerce Committee and the GTA Board. The GTA LDs cannot be processed until the published freight rates are released.
For non-CBH sites and Bunge sites the agreed methodology is “In WA where a site is not owned by CBH (or Bunge), the LD shall be calculated using the road distance to port of the particular site based on Google Maps based on the rate/t per km rate for the nearest CBH (or Bunge) site adjusted for distance.” In WA the site where the LD is a GTA calculated value is Tamma Grain.
3. Effective Date
The GTA 2025/26 Location Differentials are effective from 1 October 2025.
4. Excel Format
The GTA 2025/26 Location Differentials are available for GTA Members in Excel format.
Please send your request for these to admin@graintrade.org.au and include “Excel Location Differentials Required” in the subject field.
5. Modification to SA LDs
GTA has received a request from Bunge to remove an SA LD – Inner Harbour to Outer Harbour $7.94. This freight value only applies for Canola movements and was inadvertently posted as an LD.
The revised SA LDs are available on the GTA website.
