1. Purpose
Grain Trade Australia (GTA) wish to remind Members of the risk of fertiliser contamination in grain transport. Members are reminded to ensure the transport is appropriately cleaned and free of previous products before loading grain, in accordance with industry requirements and best practice procedures.
2. Background
The Australian grain industry has a strong reputation for supplying grain that meets domestic and international market requirements. Maintaining this reputation relies on all participants in the supply chain taking appropriate steps to prevent contamination, including ensuring transport equipment is thoroughly cleaned and suitable for carrying grain.
3. Grain industry requirements
Obligations relating to transport hygiene and contamination prevention are outlined in the Australian Grain Industry Code of Practice, the Grain Industry Transport Code of Practice, and GTA’s Technical Guideline Documents (TGDs).
