TOPIC: Update - Canola to Pakistan

Industry Update

Further to Grain Trade Australia’s Market Notification 2 of 2025, issued on 18 March, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has held additional technical discussions with Pakistani representatives.

As a result of these discussions, DAFF has confirmed that trade in Australian canola to Pakistan has been reinstated.

Pakistan has confirmed a provisional agreement to allow the following for canola consignments from Australia to Pakistan with phosphine only (methyl bromide is not approved).

Either:

  • Pre-shipment treatment with phosphine at Australian label rates; or
  • In-transit fumigation treatment with phosphine.

A number of restrictions apply and a range of information must be provided to DAFF for each consignment.

For further information, please refer to the Canola – Pakistan page on Micor, which includes updated treatment details.
