From Emerging Leaders to Industry Foundations
AGIC in Melbourne was a week that brought together the very best of our industry – fresh ideas, shared experience, and a strong focus on the future.
It began for me with the Young Professionals Networking Event, hosted by GTA’s Five Under 30 Young. This was an occasion for young professionals in the grain industry aged 30 or under to meet industry leaders and decision makers from across the Australian grain supply chain.
It was a pleasure to meet this year’s Five Under 30 participants and hear how the program has helped them build connections, confidence, and capability within our industry.
With applications now open for the 2025 intake, I encourage young professionals to consider putting their name forward – it’s a unique opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute.
AGIC itself was a significant milestone, marking my final conference as Chair of GTA. Over the years, I’ve seen AGIC grow as a platform for collaboration and insight, and this year was no exception. It was an honour to be presented at the Gala Dinner and have the opportunity to reflect on our collective achievements and the opportunities ahead.
A highlight of the conference was launching the new edition of the Australian Grain Industry Code of Practice. This document underpins confidence and trust in every grain transaction and is a key part of our self-regulation framework. With registrations for the new, free Code training now open, I encourage members to make sure their teams are across the updates so we can all continue to uphold the standards that keep our industry strong.
As I reflect on AGIC 2025, I’m reminded that the strength of this industry lies in its people – their knowledge, dedication, and willingness to work together for the greater good.
