The Common Industry Varietal Code Master List (CIVCML) lists all varieties by commodity that the industry may receive in deliveries from growers in the current season.
The CIVCML is developed by GTA on behalf of industry to capture all industry association varietal lists and other varieties. It will ensure industry can classify all loads of grain into a specific grade for that commodity. There are external organisations to GTA that classify some varieties into particular classes, for industry to create segregations following GTA publication of grades. However, there are many other varieties that are not listed or classified.
The CIVCML was introduced to simplify the process for industry participants of receiving advice on changes to the relevant grain Variety Master Lists through the creation of a master list. GTA develops the complete list to ensure industry can develop systems for capturing a varieties classification and can receive and segregate those deliveries without undue delay at harvest.
For further information on the CIVCML please see here.
Commencing in May each year:

The latest version of the CIVCML to apply as per the current season can be found here. This list will apply until 31 July of the following season.
The current season list is on the first Master List page, with prior season lists on other pages.
Over several years GTA has experienced numerous incidences where GTA members have deliveries of unknown varieties (not on any list) that have not been issued a Code and are not included on the CIVCML. This creates delays and frustration for all.
As a result the GTA Supplementary List was established for varieties that are not as yet officially classified and also for the occasional ‘old’ variety that has been removed from grain specific Master Lists – noting this supplementary listing is held discretely by a select group of industry people purely for the purpose of establishing IT system receival variety codes and a common list of reference codes for Varieties that fall outside the established Master Lists for a variety of reasons.
Generally, these are varieties that are undergoing ‘bulking up’ whilst waiting on the classification process and where production created an excess or weather damage had occurred to the crop. As a result, the producer is left to sell the variety in the market.
