Grain Trade Australia (GTA) will engage with Austrade through the Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI) to explore opportunities for collaboration and to leverage the expertise of GTA and its members.

ANMI is designed to help Australian businesses grow and diversify their exports, with a strong focus on working with national peak industry bodies. For GTA, this presents a direct opportunity to support members in accessing new international markets.

The initiative builds on more than a decade of government programs that have supported Australian industries, including manufacturing and agriculture, to expand into global markets.

This work is also aligned with the Agri-Business Expansion Initiative (ABEI), announced in December 2020. ABEI enhances Australia’s agribusiness export capacity through:

Through ABEI, DAFF Agriculture Counsellors have been deployed to strengthen technical market access outcomes by building targeted relationships, driving technical market access, and providing critical market intelligence to advance trade opportunities.

ABEI also looks to strengthen Australia’s ability to navigate digital trade, helping address barriers through international agreements. By accelerating technical negotiations on food safety, animal health, and biosecurity protocols, ABEI shortens the time required for new and improved market access, ensuring Australian producers remain competitive in global markets.

The upcoming engagement with ANMI provides an opportunity for GTA members to connect to this broader government-led framework for export growth. Leveraging GTA’s expertise across the grain value chain will ensure the sector contributes to shaping new market opportunities and benefits from initiatives designed to support long-term export success and continue to strengthen the industry’s global reach.
